What is October heat?
October heat referred to the oppressive weather conditions that prevail during month of October-November over most of India.
1. Apparent movement of sun towards south increases insolation and this increases the temperature.
2. Withdrawal of South west monsoon leads to clear sky and permits high insolation with diurnal reversal of temperature.
3. Presence of subtropical HP belt influences dryness and decreases relative humidity mainly in and around 25-30 degree lattitude. In these zone, temp is high with less humidity.
4. Retreat of S.W Monsoon and air pressure leads to decrease in onshore winds esp in western coastal areas like Maharashtra. In these areas humidity is present along with high temperature.
5. In central India and east coast, temperature is high due to insolational increase and at this period, the wind direction is North East and off shore in nature. Hence humidity less temperature can be felt.
